I’m so glad you stopped by because today I’m sharing a peek inside Our Home at Christmas! I’m starting with our outside decorations which include a variety of wreaths…
I love rustic decor – the wood…the evergreen…the burlap…the pine cones – all of it speaks to me!
As I glance through these snapshots of my decor, I have to tell you that every single piece of it has been purchased second hand. I love browsing Christmas shops to gather ideas that I love, but when it comes to purchasing my decor, I have had the most success at yard sales! In fact, those gigantic pine cones were given to me by someone who was desperate to clean out their attic! I love when that happens!
Inside our home at Christmas, I continue the cozy theme!
It doesn’t matter what time of year you stop by my house, you will probably find a candle burning, and Christmas time is no different! I love how warm and cozy a lit candle makes things feel!
This canning jar snow scene was gifted to me by one of my dearest friends, and I love setting it out each year. It actually keeps me company beyond Christmas on in to the winter.
I love simple pieces that set the mood for the holidays.
Give me a candle…a Christmas book…a cup of hot coffee…and a few simple decorations, and I am good to go for the holidays!
Next up…the trees! My hubby has a tree in his study that is completely dedicated to his alma mater (He is a Virginia Tech Hokie, and his man tree shows it.), and our kiddos put together a candy-themed tree that shines bright outside their bedroom doors; but in this post, I’m excited to showcase the details of our family room tree! It stands nine feet tall and is full of rustic pieces…many of which actually aren’t even ornaments! Pine cone accents, decorative pillows, rustic bells are placed between branches…
and a few rustic ornaments are scattered in addition.
Since moving in to our current home, we have attached garland to our staircase railing and hung our stockings there at the holidays! It has been the perfect spot! In past years, everyone has had a stocking, but we are thinking about just doing stockings for the kiddos from here on out – Any thoughts on that? What do you do at your house?
Now…for the true Reason for the Season. I love our family’s nativity set. It’s not exactly what I would pick out if I were shopping for a set right now, but it’s the one I remember from my childhood. So to me, it’s perfect! Each year, I place it on the mantle, and it serves as the centerpiece to the room. In the midst of the stockings and the Christmas tree, it is an excellent reminder of the why we celebrate: Jesus came for us.
Is there really anything more incredible than that?
