The first part of our summer was hectic, but camps our complete, our travels have come to end, and we are settling back in to our regular routines at home and enjoying a little more down time than we’ve had in recent weeks.
One of our favorite ways to spend a summer evening is on our back patio enjoying food off the grill. We love being outside while the kids run and play, and cooking up delicious grub on the grill is my hubby’s area of expertise.
Lots of hamburgers and hot dogs have been on the menu recently, so we decided to switch things up a little bit and cook up some simple summer pork chops.
Delicious Summer Pork Chops on the Grill
Boneless Pork Chops*
*Smithfield All Natural Fresh Pork is a favorite of ours! We’ve found it to be really tender and juicy – without having any added steroids, hormones, or artificial ingredients.
So we grabbed a few packages of Smithfield All Natural Boneless Pork Chops from Walmart:
Step #1: The next morning, I seasoned the pork chops with a mixture that included a few of my favorite everyday seasonings: salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic.
Step #2: After that, I placed the meat in a disposable foil pan and poured a jar of one of our favorite BBQ sauce over it (a peach-flavored BBQ sauce we recently picked up from our local Farmer’s Market), covered the pan with saran wrap, and popped it in the fridge to marinate throughout the day before it was time to fire up the grill for dinner. This took five minutes to do!
Quick, EASY prep that works on busy weeknights when we need a low-fuss meal or on relaxing weekend evenings when we want to host guests but not spend a lot of time working in the kitchen.
Step #3: That evening, we tossed the meat on the grill (with hickory wood chips smoking on the grill at the same time!), and in no time at all, our pork chops were cooked to perfection!
Do you use your grill a lot? If the weather is nice, you will find us using ours. We love how it cuts down on the number of dishes that need washing and the amount of kitchen cleanup that needs done following meal time.
This is where I admit to you that if the weather is even close to cooperative, we have been known to grill out on New Year’s Eve – simply to avoid a kitchen mess. ha!
For this meal, we served the main event up with two side dishes: potatoes and green beans – go-to favorites in our house.
You can toss your meat on the grill and prep your side dishes in the kitchen, or you may want to try one of our favorite new meal ideas: Grill Packets! We recently tried this with smoked sausage, potatoes, asparagus, corn on the cob and butter all tossed in a large foil bag designed specifically for grilling a batch of items together, and it was delicious!
For this particular meal, we made our own foil bags using heavy-duty grill grade foil (making sure the edges were folded tightly to prevent leaking), and in the bags, we included some of the Smithfield All Natural Boneless Pork Chops, chopped potatoes, and lots of butter! ha! (This time around, I cooked the veggie in my kitchen.)
So, yes, we had pork chops that had been grilled directly on the grate and pork chops that had been cooked inside our handmade foil bags – BOTH were delicious!
You’ve got to try your own grill packets! I have recently spotted a few other yummy-looking ideas for these, and we are looking forward to trying them soon. I’ll keep you posted! In the meantime, I would highly recommended these Simple Summer Pork Chops – Let me know if you give them a try!
